Property owners that have been behind on their taxes for a specific period of time, can have their property sold at a "tax Sale'  This is an auction that the county holds.IF you are the winner of the property in the tax sale you get a lien against the house.

I doubt you'll see REOs as they will probably be short sold prior to auction. 

I have created an account with the county's auction site(Broward county) here in Florida and following the process for months to understand, however I feel like I do not have enough information on things to consider before I pull the trigger and buy one.Following is the criteria that I'm following to buy one...01) Narrow down to few properties out of the list for focus02) Picking only those that are in my range i.e 70k03) Picking only those that can be bought at 70% of After repair value minus ~15k expenses.04) Making myself familiar with the neighborhood of the properties by driving thru.

I was also looking at purchasing properties at auction for two years, not having any luck.

Wow, I picked up a lot of good tips here on BP. I am in LA and looking into some upcoming Tax Deed sales. Part of my DD is to actual drive by the property to see if it is still standing and look at the neighborhood....

If the state can't find someone to give the property to, it will go to public auction.

I dont see an Auction Date or location or any other detail.1) How do I find the Auction Date and location ?
