This implies that rather than pay the loan early, you are likely to do better putting that money in S&P or you can do far better using it to make a smart RE investment.- current f/f is around 6%.

What benefit does this provide them?

I am debating about this because I know most people like mature trees but in this particular case, they almost completely cover up the front of the house. 

This has become a trend, where the initial numbers appear strong, but subsequent revisions show a weaker-than-expected labor market.
