Eventually your cash flow from properties and job/business allow you to buy them faster and faster -- a snowball effect takes place. 

Really eye opening for you to point out diversification - this is good to keep in mind especially as I continue to educate myself on what market will best suit me.

At this time when you can borrow at rates that are literally less than the rate of inflation (they are effectively paying you to borrow money) you probably will not be getting much simpathy from lenders.

Mainly fire barriers, and extra insulation in between the floors. you could go with permits for the work that is being done if you want to avoid any concerns, but as far as the city will be concerned your home is just a single family that has a Mother-in-Law suite, and you are renting the spaces separately.
