When the lender starts the process, a Notice of Default is recorded in the county where the property is located, along with a public notice in an adjudicated newspaper.

Combine that with the fact that monthly payments increased, therefore the price of home that people could afford decreased (if you can afford a $950 a month payment you can afford a $200,000 loan at 4% interest and only a $160,000 loan at 6% interest), and you've got no demand.

They receive the first NOD from a foreclosure notice per the tax deed and will pay off the taxes as the first right.

I checked out some recently sold properties in Ventura County on Zillow and I noticed that there are still bargains out there in SoCal.

I noticed many of the homes there have "names", and usually some kind of plague, or sign outside displaying it to add some charm to the house.
