@Scott M. dunno about where you are but the program sucks in Illinois and a huge percentage of people are being denied (for silly administrative stuff even)

As the others have pointed out, it is completely feasible to find 10-30% down programs, depending on the deal and your credit.  

There are home buying programs that require as little as 3% down payment.
