It is perfectly fine from the 1031 perspective to use 2nd home financing for a vacation rental that will be part of a 1031.Where the issue usually comes in is that many times lenders will not allow the down payment for a 2nd home loan to come from a 1031.

The best thing to do with condo investing is to buy one to live in, enjoy it, get that appreciation bump, and then rent it and that becomes your first investment without rushing into a duplex.

We also took a vacation to the potential area to soak in the reality of moving there.

Overwhelmed but really enjoying all the resources from bigger pockets... just listened to a short-term arbitrage podcast so this is cool to be a bit vicarious and listen in/learn/visualize what bringing in some STR's looks like...
