I used Zillow to list my rental and accepted someone's application however after my few interactions with them on the phone some major red flags have come up and I wanted to know am I under any legal obligation to rent my property to this person. 

I have been watching the DOM on most of these and midway through 2023 the DOM are continuously counting up. 

I know I should go out and do meet ups, but I’m unsure of when and where they happen at. 

This will end up hurting renters and making landlords look bad.

I'm all for safe housing and keep up with any issues on my properties but this is insane.

It challenged my assumptions, so I thought I'd share the key points:- Rents up 25% since 2020, but wages only 22% - ouch.- 50% of renters now "rent-burdened" (>30% income on rent).- Landlord costs skyrocketing:      - Insurance: +30% (thanks, climate change)     - Utilities: +30%     - Property taxes, materials, maintenance all up     - Even lawn care and cleaning services cost moreThe article argues these costs are being passed to tenants, not just padding profits.

I sold my San Jose rentals years ago so not up to speed on eviction laws.
