If you decide to fill in the pool, you will lose the value that pool provides - that could easily be $20k - $50k, depending on the condition of the pool and the neighborhood you bought in.

I’m not really sure how to proceed because it seems like there’s an inherent conflict of interest here for the contractor: they have an incentive to keep the estimate low to minimize the payout from the insurance carrier and win the bid from us.

Also, the note people would have to chime in on the house but you have to provide more info like the note balance, rate, seasoning etc.I feel like it will not have any liquidity when you go to sell so you have to buy it enough that it cash flows so well which is your hedge from not being able to sell easily.
