Some larger broker outlets will give the option to have the loan processed and underwritten with them but this isn't the norm (UWM comes to mind as a big lender who now gives the broker this option of taking care of all of the processing or certain aspects of the processing which they call "processor assist" - this is fairly unique as far as I'm aware however).There are so many little variables to every situation but generally speaking, if an MLO is skipping over the spot where his/her license hangs and taking a deal somewhere direct, there wouldn't be a compliant way to pay the MLO.

@Robert Ellis, sorry to hijack a thread, but I'm working on my second rental property, my first was the first house I bought 20 years ago, so it just takes care of itself, so this portion is new to me.

Here's a quick "laundry list" of lease paragraphs...this is not all inclusive as each lease may be modified and negotiated by both counter parties....but it should suffice to kick start a discussion....Firstly, Keep in mind that the laundry vendors have written the leases they prefer to use and generally it's written to their benefit but if you read the leases carefully you'll find there are areas that are negotiable and non negotiable.

My VA takes care of most things and he is MUCH cheaper than paying a property management company 15%-20%.
