Before building that last company I took a 5 year break and moved into internet marketing where I started a marketing firm that mostly did social media ad buying (I was the guy that sold out growthcon for Grant Cardone in 2019). 

I just watched a Youtube video of a lady who bought a House on the East side of Florida and when she received the updated Property Tax bill that tripled, she put the house up for sale and is moving back to North Carolina.

The key to making it work is communication with both tenants and owners - or in my case tenants and me as the property manager.

I’m currently looking into moving to New York City, where I would like to learn about the market and continue flipping houses.

The consideration for the property to cashflow (after you move out) is still very important if you plan to hold, but taking action with the consideration of how this first step will impact your finances today will yield the greatest impact. 

@Henry HsiehTo provide a different perspective:I am NOT a property manager so I have no skin in this game  But I can tell you, as a GP involved with over 1100 units and $140M AUM, good property management is a big key to successful investment. 

It's costing us a billion dollars just to move debris from Lahaina to Olowalu. 

Keep researching and visiting potential areas; finding the right fit might take some time, but it's key to a successful investment.
