I have another LLC that holds a short-term rental that is classified as active, so we did the cost-seg, bonus depreciation, etc. and we'll be offsetting a solid chunk of our active income this year.I was hoping maybe there was some sort of similar trick here that could be used to reclassify this syndication as active based on specific facts and circumstances like you mention.

Now when I make a decision whether to STR or LTR, I have personal experience and data and don't need to rely on listening to other people's stories.Two bonuses for STRs and LTRs don't have: STRs give hosts more control over the properties, and owners have more flexibility with using the properties for personal use, which LTRs don't.STRs have their wear and tears, but in general, the condition of the property is usually well maintained above standard.

I reached out to get a cost seg estimate & came back with these estimates:$352k building cost ($400k minus estimated land costs)~$77k in estimated bonus depreciation= $28k in estimated tax benefits ($77k in estimated bonus deprecation * 37% tax rate)Note - the above is my main point of contention with these cost seg estimates.
