Switch from carpet to laminate - what to do with the stairs?

I've been lucky and had regular wood stairs under the carpet so just sanded and stained them a similar color to whatever the new flooring looked like - if it's particle board you might need to improvise a little.

Can window glass crack from cold?

It would have to be quite a stress to crack a double or triple glazed modern window.Another possibility {though unlikely} is the sash has warped/pulled away from the glazing and water entered between the two ... that water has since frozen and the pressure has cracked the glazing.I'm sure it's not been as cold in Philly as we regularly experience (today is the first day warmer than 0F in a month) and the cold never makes the glass crack here ... especially in a modern thermo-pane.

I'm located in South Carolina and will typically allow the tenant to prepay rent in cases where they are in job transitions or they are retired and do not have a regular salary coming in but may have substantial cash in reserves.
