The only thing is that the inspection is very thorough .I also know some people who would rather jump in a pool of swords than deal with section 8 tenants based of the perception that they are difficult to deal with and the inspection etc.

This is not to say that the solution is the reimplementation of a gold standard, but it is to say that our perception of strength in markets (which is in dollar terms) was obfuscated as the dollar was no longer a consistent store of value across longer periods of time.
