I own my own house and I own some land out of state, so I have assets I want protected.I have quotes and will be purchasing an insurance policy that provides 1 million in landlord liability and I can also purchase an additional 1 million in an umbrella policy.My question is, is it even possible, or has anyone heard of a landlord getting sued and losing over $2 million on a simple duplex?

Great points from @Doug Smith and some I will be leveraging in my own work.We do some "pitching" of startups to landlords and while not a 1:1 comparison we generally also leverage the credibility of the team or consultants that the startup is using to mitigate their risk.

I can’t say I came up with the idea, I saw a landlord with more units than I have post that they offered the holiday discount, bug only to their tenants who had made all their rent payments on time and in full over the course of the year.
