There’s some HVAC guys that don’t care about anything but their own work, so they’ll cut into the framing to accommodate ductwork, but then the problem becomes dead load distribution.

It cannot go back where it was due to code but the house also doesn’t have any ductwork.  

I'm talking about substantial upgrades, for instance:  40 yr old radiators & old furnaces with window A/C units, compared to my new 90% efficiency furnace, new a/c compressor and all new ductwork. 

As for the heater the home does not have duct work so going to central heat would require major work and cost to us.  

Some houses lend themselves to easily installed duct work and some don't.

These are heat pump units that create amazing heat in sub zero weather conditions.My reasoning for going with a ductless system was partially due to the existing ductwork in the lower level units was completely rusted out and every hvac system was original from 1972!

We will be redoing all the duct work and can install it ourselves, but if there's recommendations for an excellent and affordable HVAC installer, we'd love to talk to them.

I am thinking some reconfiguring of pipes for the boiler and some duct work and gas lines for furnace.

Hi all,I'm in the process of selecting a contractor for a new furnace and relocation of this furnace so some duct-work and gas pipe relocation will be involved. 

Its much easier to do plumbing and duct work in a basement than a crawl space .
