In case anyone comes across this thread, I overlooked the obvious answer: in an SD IRA, you're not allowed to perform any services yourself for your IRA as this is construed by the IRS in a manner that would invalidate the IRA's tax status and open you to significant tax penalties.

If the difference in price isn't astronomical I'd try to replace as much as you can with all the pipes exposed.You will thank yourself later when you don't have to open a wall to replace galvanized piping that is full of scale and clogged.Thx,Chris

Get a secure credit card (a credit card that is opened with a cash deposit) and utilize it until your score rises to a place where you can transition out of it...or keep it :) I'm 90k in student loan debt and my credit score is about a 740.
