They track single family houses for large differentials too.I've fought back and gotten a couple partial wins, and one where they backed off and dropped it entirely.Even though the hearing is "informal", treat it like going to court with biased judges.

You have the right to collect rent, but it's not going to be worth going to court over 1 month of rent.If the situation is you trying to terminate the lease, make sure you brush up on the Fair Notice Ordinance if they've been there for over a year.

Offer your landlord $200 and if he doesn't like that then let him take you to court, or if he withholds your security deposit then take your landlord to small claims court.There is a normal amount of wear, dents, chips and discoloration that is an expectation with countertops.
