For example, I would sometimes say "Let me talk to landlord Sam and get back to you, I need to work on him, but don't worry, I'll give it my best shot" or "...landlord Sam would flip out if he knew, your secret is safe with me...but don't do this again"...or sometimes even on the phone I would say "tomorrow I will send in my repair guy Sam to take a look..." and they know that's me talking too.
