Is it the township, and if so, which department usually can help with that? 

The Sonoma and Napa building departments will be overwhelmed with applications and good luck finding a contractor in the next 3 years.So if you're thinking about buying some of these burned out lots - as I am - you need to have substantial capital and be willing to wait possibly 5+ years before you'll have something to sell.Interested to hear other people's takes on the situation.

I am going to be apply to join a couple of different police departments soon.

I have my business license with the city of Aurora codes and zoning department. 

They won't do new construction but would love repairs you are seeking.I found one person by asking the plumbing department guy at Home Depot.

Haven't had a call on appliances.Counter tops: Formica is still looking just fine.Cabinets:  Went cheap - these are holding up OK but showing signs a wear - looking back I would bump up to middle grade here.Sink and faucet:  Had a hook in this department and went away from the depot - Middle end stainless and still working great.

Cabinets have sales cycles too, check with the home depot kitchen department designers who can let you know if they are having a good promotion or not.
