So I kind of know the basics of real estate, but a little background about myself is that i just turned 21 years old, I live in New York, and I have about 50k saved up and I want to get into real estate, I currently have a pretty good credit score, and my question is, should I buy a multi family property because I would like to move out but house hack but should I look into New York or should I branch out and look into PA, NJ, or upstate New York, considering I still live with my parents and just started to pay rent.

From my understanding, the family member believes that to best protect himself, the parental guarantor should be listed as the tenant on the lease and the college student tenant should be listed as the guarantor. 

This includes the owner’s spouse, domestic partner, children, grandchildren, parents, or grandparents only.
