Building materials will get cheaper, but then people will want more, jacking the final price back up.Example: drywall is cheaper to install than lath & plaster, PVC is cheaper than cast iron stack pipes, etc.

I tried to estimate for worst case scenarios, Everything I install will be top end, plus I'm building kitchen cabinets, bath vanity, & any other cabinetry on site (indistinguishable from top of the line Thomasville type cabinetry) which will save me at least 10k - even more since I'm working for free.

Companies like VPS can put metal on your doors / windows You already mentioned a security system My last thought is if someone really wants to get in your home - they will :) Oh - well I guess my last thoughts are....screw the windows shut - put a 2x4 or bar that prevents the windows from being pried open - they can still break it but they can't open it.

All new windows, install a/c (only has swamp cooler), dryer plug (weirdest thing in the laundry room it only has a normal outlet and no 3 prong dryer but has gas hookups).
