I'm reading Robert Kiyosaki's book "Retire Young and Retire Rich" and he strongly encourages to leverage debt and not leverage equity.

However, like many of the rest of you, I stumbled on this little book called Rich Dad, Poor Dad and my entire outlook on life changed, and that was all it took to spark inspiration for me to take steps into the world of real estate--building the asset column, am I right?

I’ll have to pick up BP’s book on buying rentals.

The house was built in the 50's and the plumbing was upgraded at some point to copper and most of the major items were replaced at some point and time to meet more modern standards.

You should read up on the subject as much as you can (J Scott has a good book on this) in order to get a better idea of the general price of repairs.

Reading the books and listening to the podcast it should be easy.

Owning/managing an STR is not as simple or straightforward as standard rentals and to successfully run them you need to have good systems and procedures in place to sustain them.   

My real estate experience is mostly education from podcasts and books I've been reading so I wanted to get in person applicable experience.
