So now I am stuck as I am not able to recover the money already spent to continue the project and I am concerned that not only this project is going to cost more morning but also my profit margin is shrinking as more time passes by to pull permits and now a can of worms has been opened not sure where to go from here.

We have been contemplating our strategy to start our business by having my sister buy her first home locally here in Connecticut, a duplex as her primary residence and live in one unit with our mother, while renting out the other unit to a resident, and be able to also rent out her single-family house as a short term/midterm rental to traveling nursers/working professionals on furnish finder.

Below you can find a quick FAQ sheet of the updates they have implemented and will be implementing soon.Quick Overview: - The cost of application fees has increased- Platforms will remove listings without legitimate permit numbers- Platforms will have to remit the Hotel taxes directly to the city of San Antonio (Operators still have to file revenue reports monthly)- STR operators can change the operator of the permit without a new application being required (it seems the permits are still non-transferable upon sale, however)- Updated Party Prevention measuresMy Take:This should weed out some hosts that have not been abiding by the permit requirements.

If the interest rates come down, I can transfer the property back to my personal name, refinance, and then transfer the property again to an LLC or trust.Second and most important thing, I would like to get an idea of what type of property to purchase that best suits for STR in Chicago area , near by states like WI or MI also I am fine as long as it is closed to Chicago.

I do not have much knowledge on real estate but I am the hitting  books: BRRRR by David Greene, Estimating Rehab cost by J.Scott, Investing real estate with no/low money down by Brandon Turner and finally, Rental property investing by Brandon Turner.Outside of real estate, I enjoy swimming, bike riding, watching anime, playing video games and interests in the stock/house market.Excited to learn and connect with you all!

Hi there,Pretty new to REI as well.Things I've done to gain knowledge:-Listen to BP podcast-Read RE books-Enrolled in a RE course (I take an exam in a few months to obtain my license)-Look at listings throughout the day in states I've been eye-ing-Analyze potential deals by plugging numbers in a spreadsheet (to calculate what ROI will be first year, second year, etc) -Been reaching out to seasoned RE investors-Saving more $ to increase capitalGood luck to us!
