Point being if you are okay with your current contractor, but frustrated with the timeline, I would go ahead a create a SOW/contract with the new deadline and explain to him that it is only fair that you both are clear on expectations.

At least thats my advice.I truly believe that the people that are picking up houses atthese prices are really going to make a generational changein their finances that most of us wouldn't have the opportunityto do any other way.To me, real estate investing is one of the few remaining "blue-collar" ways to get ahead financially.

Of course, if you're rich, you're more likely to be intelligent about how to acquire wealth/cash, so there's that advantage again (and again, that's what capitalism is all about, those that have the resources and know-how and work ethic will get ahead -- not a bad thing).Unfortunately, during this same period, those with little cash reserves and no entrepreneurial spirit had essentially no opportunity to get ahead and the world around them in economic turmoil.
