And with rental properties, I think one of the main considerations is controlling your costs so you're not running around trying to make ends meet later on when surprises pop up.If you're only going to have the rental property for 5 or so years before selling and moving on to bigger and better things, it might be a different situation.

Prices in the city are out of control, though there may be some good investment opportunities uptown where rent prices are out-pacing sales prices.... at least for now.My company specializes in the upper Manhattan market for rentals, but we do have full access to sales listings throughout the city of course, and have done deals in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.
