I suspect that something illegal was happening at that property.Many of the ones that were not strange were in extremely poor shape (not cosmetic but structural).In 2 years of looking at the local tax auction properties, we only bid on a single property and did not win the auction.  

Calling the city/town for illegal dumping might have been the better solution, but it also might become a 2-month project with the city.

Hi @Igor Nastaskin, I'll speak from a slightly different angle here since @Corey Hawkinson, @John Mocker, and @John Warren have illuminated some excellent points already.I own a fourplex being (illegally) used as a homeless/drug convalescence center near other properties and it has destabilized the rest of the area. 

The house had an illegal Bathroom in the basement, it was removed prior to sale.

Basically you make it clear that illegal behavior will not be tolerated, that you are watching and that the police will be involved if necessary.

Salaried workers can make decent money, but so much of their work goes back into the company and its owners... and rarely into their own pockets.

If you're close to a medical center there's a good chance you'll get traveling medical staff, students, and other contract workers.

The people that I personally know that do airbnb have been focusing on longer term stuff like insurance housing or contract workers, so they didn't see too much of a change.
