The college continues to grow and the need for housing is great.

I am an invest from Central, PA as well (Just outside of State College). 

A 2 bedroom would work well as Lafayette is a small college town.

My son will be going to college in 15 years (haha, if he wants I suppose), and getting that extra cash flow at that time would be nice. 

I'm friends with a family that moved here about 6mo ago from Calgary.While I wish I could help more on the school issue (I'm just out of college myself, no kids, and not originally from Houston) - I can still say I wouldn't depend solely on online rating systems because who knows what they're really grading the school on, how they get their ratings, or if the areas they assess heavily are where most of your concern lies.

Joe's question seems relevant.I spent 4 years in college in South Carolina And I've heard a lot of bad things happening in Charleston in the news lately.

Some might be willing to walk you through your first deal.Does you local community college offer real estate investment courses?

My suggestion to you is to use your college degree to punch a clock for a real buisnessman.
