If you find the right house, I would suggest to buy a fixer-upper, make it look good, and rent it out either using airbnb, or just a normal rental.

Neither of which should be connected in such a way to the toilet sewer to cause a backup like that.Then again we did see a duplex once whereby the upper unit toilet flush would gurgle & come up into the kitchen sink of the lower unit.

The upper level of the house just needs flooring, paint and a whole new bathroom and the downstairs needs some sheetrock and new kitchen with appliances.I was unaware of the construction loan, but I will discuss that option with my realtor.

Helps offset fixed expenses like permits and regulations. certainly gets the job done and we do need more housing inventory on the upper end as well, but the real challenge is the insane demand for houses under median.
