I just started doing this about a week ago so I think I'm headed in the right direction.

When I first got out of my own I was always told that paying the rent should be my first priority because I need a roof over my head.

Just a heads up, when working with different partners across different LLC's that are layered, you'll need to invest some time into getting it set up properly.
