At the end of it, there are all the forms you could ever need, including contracts, roommate agreements, eviction forms, small claims court forms - really great.http://www.legislature.mi.gov/publications/tenantl...I did some serious Googling, and I couldn't find anything that specifies what you can and cannot do regarding your required method of paying rent.

Chase Cline you can totally represent your self, in California or anywhere I think I'm small claims, you should maybe at least do a 1 hour consultation pay a lawyer, if you want or do a lot of research on the matter back in college we even painted details ourself cause my roommates and I wanted deposit here in San Diego, UTC he didn't give us our money so we went to small claims and we won the original deposit amount and that's it, so he had 30 days or so to pay us back its been 7 years now people usually get along with this kind of things is terrible.

In the case that they have a fight and break up I can imagine the problems trying to collect half from both but if one is responsible I can see one leaving and the higher earner staying and keep paying while maybe trying to find a roommate

The tenants were roommates and asked if they could pay their portions separately via PayPal, which I also agreed to, but put in the agreement language that said that the tenants agree that if the full rent wasn't paid on time, both were still jointly and severally liable and both could be evicted, etc.If you want the form I created, I could see if I could find it for you.

I wrote up an agreement that they signed (roommates) that they could pay their portions separately, and that if they ever did end up kicked out because one didn't pay, but the other did, the good tenant would still get good references - forget all the details.
