Just no payments due and a principal balance that stays flat.A deal can be done when both sides want to make the deal work.You might be over your head with this deal as you are new to multi-family, the building is going through a conversion from offices to residential, the property has no useful history and the mortgage market is an unknown as it will be months before you can get long term permanent financing.

The fha loans require 3.5% down but the mortgage insurance is permanent on these so try to avoid fha if possible .

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues, hopefully you can fight it, but in my experience on the lending and investing side, the appraiser won't budge unless they made a trivial mistake (forgot to take into consideration major highway dividing lines, incorrect square footage on records, fat fingering an address, etc.)

The monthly rent on that house is only a few hundred bucks more than the mortgage payment (as you would expect with a no money down loan), but I try to take a longer more permanent view of my investments.
