I heard that if a house is listed in the county appraiser website as a 2/1 (for example), but someone did an unpermitted "garage to a bedroom" conversion to make it a 3/1, that when you eventually sell the house the agent is required to still list it on the MLS as a 2/1.

I've read that some counties or areas have a code requirement that the garage door (leading into the house) be the kind that swings shut automatically, in case someone leaves the keys in the car ignition with the car running by accident and carbon monoxide fills the house.

What I don't get is our lender is the one who does the appraisel on it and I can't believe it won't appraise for that.Its almost 2000 sqft 4 bedroom 2 full bath 3 car garage and only need scarpet and paint cleaning and thats pretty much it.

My neighbors home to my right was broken into while he was on vacation and they stole his Durango that was in the garage.
