Assuming you know how easy/difficult it is to get approval from the Michigan DOB and how much that will cost?  

Legal, but not recommended and VERY easy to violate the law.

If your transaction is easy, then that very well may be a non-issue. 

Let's say 10 years in, you get deployed to <insert random combat theater where you have no internet access and limited phone access at best> and you have 30 properties at this point spread across the country.

Locally, I’m sure you can find an investor friendly firm by asking around the local REIA.We've done enough research to know that getting licensed is fairly easy in most places.
