Selling Primary Home with Redfin

My neighbor who is listing his home with a local realtor told me "pick any other brokerage firm as long as it's not Redfin. They don't have the connections to sell your home at as good of a price." I'm a bit skeptical of his comment. As the seller's agent, what does it matter? If the home is staged, listed on the MLS, does it really make a difference which brokerage I go with? I've already got a good idea of my home's worth and am not concerned with the valuation part of it. Total commissions on Redfin are 3.5% in my area, seems like a good deal. Any drawbacks to listing my home with Redfin?

There are a few drawbacks which may or may not impact you.  The major one is, they have low paid inexperienced agents.  If your transaction is easy, then that very well may be a non-issue.  But disclosure laws are complicated where you live, or you have a transaction that is complicated, having a low paid inexperience agent could be costly. That doesnt just go for them, but that goes for any bad agent in general.  Not to get into too much detail, I had a transaction earlier this year where I represented the buy side, and that seller at the closing table had to write my buyer a check for $15k for not disclosing something that state law required them to.  The seller didnt know that, their agent didnt know that, but me and my buyer knew this issue existed and knew they hadnt disclosed it, and I knew at the closing table Id have the leverage to get my buyer a nice bonus.
