It's a great canvas to improve upon --I suggest the following to make it more modern & appealing without needing to invest a lot in the exterior or change the structure:Coat of paint to make it more modern I suggest keeping it simple with white tone exterior with black accents (on the railing, shutters, trim and sconces) https://people.hgtv.com/professionals/prairie/mode...Add shutters on both sides Update the sconces to something a little larger and more modern to add visual interest and take up some of the blank spaceAdd simple landscaping on either side to introduce greenery against the simple color scheme of the homeBest of luck with this!

But some things that most people would probably agree on are a neutral paint pallet - painting over the dark colors, and cleaning up as much clutter and personal items as possible for the pictures you or your agent will use to market the property.

@Joel Owens cinder block walls and industrial lino works have seen it many times. for me only provide a stove... period. but I do like the prison concept.. seems like we are the wardens.cage the condenser..When I was buying and rehabbing I always put in a new sewer line to the street if it was 20 or more years old could get it done for 1 to 12oo before its an emergency and its one of the biggest maintenance items.And then the obvious I never put carpet in C properties.. most have hard would floors Paint them dark colors. let them use throw rugs. etc etc.bottom line is these homes are lived in roughly

It doesn't cost me a lot more to do a neutral color and paint trims white and make the house stand out.
