Painting an entire house

I need an entire house painted including the floors and have received quotes that are much higher than anticipated.  The house is 1800 sq. ft. with wood floors.  Paint would be off-white throughout.  I got a quote for $5000 including materials.  Is this too high?

@Drew Oberholtzer  Hi Drew, I have never hired someone to paint for me so I cannot give feedback on that price being reasonable or not.  My wife and I just got done turning over a 1000 square foot apartment and we repainted the entire unit.  My gut tells me $5,000 is a lot.  If someone offered me $5,000 to paint twice the space we just got done painting I would jump on it in a second.
My wife and I do the things we can reasonably do.  We enjoy it and it's a good bonding experience for the both of us.

I get the whole "work on your business versus work in your business" mindset but how many other houses do you own/manage?  Why not just spend a few hours of your time and save a few thousand  dollars on painting yourself?
