For the last few years, 40% of all purchases in USA have been international buyers.In order to take a loan, most of the banks would want you to have 2 years work experience  in USA, have a work visa, SS # and a credit score of at least 660.

I worked as a loan officer for several local and regional brokers as well as federally chartered national and international banks for about another 9 years.

I think these classifications are more for internal IRS use than to determine anything about what will be allowed or not allowed from a tax perspective.I could be wrong though...

I got a very detailed list in about 1.5 weeks and I had my intern spend the afternoon looking up banking info.
