"Lawful source of income" is now a protected class.

However, before diving in, be wary of new laws in the works in the Legislature under consideration. 

Most brokers in NJ are not friendly to realtors wholesaling properties, as it's considered a net listing, which is against the law here in NJ.

But state laws govern insurance, and agents knowledgeable of local conditions is important.I worked in an small insurance company once, with a brokerage in the same office.

Apparently New York Governer Cuomo added a new law  that adds lawful income as a protected class.

If the laws weren't so tight, this could be ideal where everyone has a way out of a bad situation.

Specifically regarding Massachusetts tenant-Landlord law.

And despite what some brokers will allow in their specific office, in Kansas and Missouri real estate agents and brokers can wholesale if they want to as long as they follow the law and their broker will allow it.

If it’s against the law I won’t do it.

I can’t speak to PA laws, but it would be very difficult (as you are aware from personal experience) to ensure quality work on your property if they hire their own people.
