I do not care about credit score.What I care about is non-medical / non-student loan related collections, liens, judgments, repossessions, criminal convictions, prior landlord and personal references, time on job, income, communication skills, ability to follow directions, etc... and my tenant screening process focuses on these things.

The deposit works on the same concept normally, pays for repairs, and if anything is left it goes towards that balance, then finally if they still owe you money, you send them a bill, maybe charge interest if it's not paid in 30 days, etc.
