They use mostly concrete block construction with very little if any attic spaces like you would typically find in US wood stick construction but they seem to work very well and last a long time with little maintenance and they are relatively cheap.

I do think it's helpful to have an ideal end goal in mind, but definitely focusing on the concrete plan rather than a vaguely conceptualized goal is the way to go.
