Unfortunately, you may have gotten scammed. 

They are a scam!  

On such a trip, you will surely encounter a number of individuals who could all benefit greatly from receiving even a portion of that amount.

This sounds like a variation of the loan broker scam where you pay an up front fee to apply and then never manage to get a loan.

The more you write, Daniel Miller the more I think these folks are really trying to scam you.

Anyone else encounter this?

Or, its just because I want a multi-family, but when you do this with knowledge, education, and do a good job at it (fix the property up nicely), that in itself limits the headaches you're going to encounter.

I have not encountered such a welcoming community to new members on a forum in awhile and am glad to be apart of it.I'm still very green and biased with that instilled college can do spirit as a recent graduate, but I've managed to reconcile my nerves and fears by allowing them to drive me to learn and absorb as much as I can so that I can overcome them and walk confidently into my first investment.

Anyway, I was just sharing what kind of challenges we have encountered doing this.

Has Anyone ever encountered a tenant that has a dog, and suddenly that dog is now certified as a service dog?
