Understanding and educating yourself on the advantage of different forms of financing is an excellent way to get started and feel more comfortable about the process.

However, if you live in the half that is rented, make sure you are paying market rent and have a lease drawn up to avoid family problems (eg your siblings feeling like they bought a home, so you could have your own place).

Completing cosmetic updates to the interior, painting the whole interior, removing drop ceilings to make the space feel bigger, gutting and renovating one of the bathrooms.
