Municipalities have ordinances on the books, but getting them enforced can be a challenge because code enforcement people are understaffed and the police have strict rules they have to follow when responding to complaints.

Will,Part of the problem is you did renovation work, which triggers bringing items up to ADA standards, i'm surprised your code enforcement officer ( building inspector) did not pick up on that when you filed for the permit ( you did get a permit for the work didn't you?

The benefit is that my business parter/sister is a real estate agent, so she provides comps/evaluations on any properties we find, but I will definitely take all of the insight you have given me into consideration.

I am not so much concerned with the process as what the state codes are (i.e. length of support beam without vertical support, materials to use, etc).Either way I would also like to have someone come in and take a look.
