Congratulations on looking at people’s comments and thinking about this and just because you make one decision now doesn’t mean you’re stuck with it forever nor does it mean it’s the end all be all for every property you purchase.

I assumed you were telling me that I didnt know the laws and denying someone on looks was cool.

I got Uncle Sam all over my sh#t talking about "come on man, just a few more bucks, come on, look at all that $ you got, just a bit more".

It's like a person on the ground wrapped in a dozen pythons yelling to onlooker "oh, hey, grab my phone, I don't want the phone screen to get cracked" lol.

It hurts, but it's better to know than wasting time on looking for things for a client that doesn't want to use you. 

Thanks for your perspective on looking closer to the city, and to answer your last question, I am currently renting and I am soon going to go through the pre-approval process.

I have been working with @Shawn Mcenteer on looking at properties up that way and he has been a wealth of knowledge in the NJ market. 

That is an unknown expense that will likely increase.Now if you can find one with 6-7 years left, you might have a short term appreciation play.Anyway, just my two cents based on looking at them for my clients.Mark

This is quite an old style of foundation and in case you are not familiar it's like this, except the one I'm looking at has tree trunk (blocks) instead of cement blocks as shown below:The layout I'm working on looks something like this and I'm I've spoken with a number of structural engineers and gotten different answers from each one.
