Airbnb is all about guest satisfaction, and very little, if anything for hosts. 

I can host and record podcasts in my sleep and crush.

It does not cover phone, internet, or TV.I'd open up the STRs for locals in need.

I co-host a multifamily meet up group in KC in overland park at Strang Hall.

You might be better with an experienced co-host and Airbnb expert and a handyman with cleaning crew.

(note: a guest might trash the place but that would be covered by the hosting sites' insurance as part of your listing services).Maybe california has cheaper towns that are close to you that also allow STRs.

I would strongly encourage getting one with good internet, as a bunch of the tech crowd from Atlanta will rent it out in order to work remote.

I only have 7 months of data, but other hosts say Padsplit tries to at least keep everyone as close to 80% as possible. 

Also what platform(s) are you using to create and host your website (wix, wordpress, squarespace, etc)?

Also, what about internet, trash and security?
