Hi Gary, Finding reputable contractors can be time-consuming and difficult. 

Bad for consumers.

As long as everything is disclosed upfront, there shouldn't be any confusion from consumers.

I feel like a lot of people work property management up to be a super time consuming thing, but with the right tenant in place, the right team on the ground and some software to manage things, it can be done from a far relatively easy. 

It's interesting that the DOJ says they want to protect the consumer, but the action they are taking will lead to mandatory buyer agency agreements and will likely lead to a rise in cost to the consumer.

The FTC enforces CONSUMER PROTECTION LAWS. 

I would think more so if you are buying out of state... it will be very time consuming to have to go search for all your trades and services. 

My answer for consumer clients is different. 

If passive, consuming content and talking to people in the space and getting your money ready may be all you need to do.

The biggest time consumer would be your apartment building, but that is being managed by a PM.
