the down side ofcourse is that once you throw the extra money into payment (without the program), it is essentially gone unless you refi or get an equity.time and time again, i have seen people try to pay their mortgage off at such a rapid pace that they leave themselves little to nothing to live on and end up refinancing and being talked into the most they can be put into a worst situation than they were originally in.I'm by no means advocating this program (a couple of years ago, a friend of my wife's tried selling it to me).
