I am about to purchase a duplex.I was informed that it had meth in it, but was cleaned and certified for good bill of health.Does the fact that it has had this issue hurt value when compared to similar duplexes in the same location that have not had the issue?

Such as finding empty parking lots or level land in good areas that has room for 50-100 containers at each location.

I am currently a fifth year (5/5) Mechanical Engineering student at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, I have recently accepted a full time job offer as a Mechanical Engineer at a chemical company located in Deer Park, TX with a start date in July 2019. 

It's a nice up and coming centrally located neighborhood with high property values that can attract high end tenants who are willing to pay for the more high end housing.  

I'm a landlord's kid, the duplex has been in the family for over 30 years located in Chicago, IL.

I mean by adding one bedroom to a previously existing 2 bedroom and adding one bath I have successfuly turned a $150,000.00 home into a $300K plus home several times so in my case it did prove to be profitable  but timing is everything and so is location.

With the location on the edge of an improving and re-developing downtown, does that increase the value of these proposed new homes despite the existing ones?
