I would suggest you start by building your education, whether that is a college degree, independent education on a skill or a trade, or surrounding yourself with mentors.

This developer is well-known and well-respected in our small town, so I am not as freaked out as I would be if I were dealing with a complete stranger, but the more you mention stuff the more I realize i have no idea what I am doing......thanks for trying to educate me!
