Anything left over goes into a reserve for the roof you need to buy or the siding you have to replace, or the AC unit that fails.

That $10-15k could go a lot further elsewhere, like on cosmetic finishes (especially in the kitchen or bathroom and refinished floors) and/or a new roof for the main building.

Some of this will depend on if the fire burnt a hole in the roof and now you have a rain getting inside the house cause mold or deterioration.
